DATA SNAP: Hesse Sep CPI 0.3% MM, 2.3% YY
By Emese Bartha Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--Consumer prices in the German state of Hesse rose 0.3% on the month in September and 2.3% on the year, the state statistics office said Thursday. In August, consumer prices in this state fell 0.2% on the month and rose 1.6% on the year. The main reason behind the jump is an increase in heating oil and fuel prices, which rose 4.5% and 2.2% from August, respectively, the statistics office said. Food prices increased 0.6% on the month and 1.8% on the year, it said. Hesse is the fourth German state to publish September CPI data, and will be followed by preliminary pan-German data later Thursday.In a Dow Jones Newswires survey, analysts predicted a rise in German CPI of 0.1% on the month and a 2.3% increase on the year.
